Ministries

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS

A Special Minister of the Eucharist is a lay person commissioned for service to a particular community. Special Ministers of the Eucharist are selected with prayerful consideration of the needs of the community and the qualifications of the individual.

Preparation for this ministry includes:

+ formal instruction through the Diocesan Office of Liturgy upon the recommendation of the Pastor;

+ parish instruction as to local customs and responsibilities;

+ formal commissioning at a parish liturgy, to distribute Eucharist from the altar only.

LITURGY COMMITTEE

This committee meets periodically to pray, discuss lessons, and plan for liturgies.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD

All children of the parish and guests between the ages of 5 and 11 years are invited to participate in the Liturgy of the Word for children on Sundays during the 9:00 Mass. Children's Liturgy of the Word is a prayerful reflection on the Sunday readings geared especially for children at these age levels and is offered year-round.

ART AND ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE

This committee meets several times during the liturgical year to plan ways to enhance our worship by the use of banners, plants, and seasonal decorations.

Members are asked to become familiar with the liturgical seasons and appropriate decor and color. Members who are talented in the sewing of banners, altar cloths, etc. and in plant maintenance are needed.

MINISTRY OF HOSPITALITY

Greeters and ushers are extremely important because we want visitors and parishioners to know that they are always welcome at services at St. Paul.. Parishioners provide the first encounter with our parish and offer a welcome to all.

LECTORS

Lectors proclaim the "Word of God" at Mass through readings taken from the Old and New Testaments. Scheduling of Mass times and frequency for lectors is flexible.

CHOIR - ADULT

The adult choir initiates and guides the assembly in sung prayer following the tradition of the church.

PSALMIST/CANTOR

The Psalmist introduces the psalm response and gospel acclamation to the assembly, singing the verses and antiphons;The Cantor leads and encourages the assembly in singing, also teaches new music to the people.

CHOIR - RESURRECTION

The resurrection choir serves the grieving members of a funeral assembly by leading the sung prayer of the funeral liturgy.

SERVERS

Servers assist celebrants) during Mass. Any 4th grade through High School students who meet requirements in the parish are eligible.

ROSARY GROUP

Immediately following the 8:30 daily Mass, parishioners coordinate the praying of the Rosary, in Church, as a confirmation of their prayers at Mass.

CHURCH CLEANING APOSTOLATE

St. Paul has a beautiful church facility. It is the place where our Lord resides and where we go to worship Him. Cleanliness of this facility is a must for our unfettered prayers and adoration. With an average weekly attendance of from 2500 to 4200 people, the cleaning of the church is a continual necessity on a weekly basis. To provide the means of fulfilling this need, a church-cleaning apostolate of two volunteer groups has been established in the parish. One group cleans on Monday mornings and the other on Thursday mornings. Each group works from 9:30 AM to about 11:00 AM. The work is not difficult, it is a rewarding time, and it keeps one very close to the Lord for that hour and a half.
